Assessments for individuals
Following a full assessment, a detailed report will be written
in plain English, giving results of the tests, an interpretation of them and
suggestions for a programme of work.
A summary report can be written up in the form of a long term Individual Education
Plan, if required.
Individual/small group tuition
Programmes of work will be highly structured, cumulative and
multi-sensory, ensuring that the child achieves success at each stage.
Specialist materials will be used.
Advice on S.E.N. resources and apparatus
(i) The development of a Special Needs Manual that sets out
the stages of progress, resources and approaches to use can be tailored to
each individual school’s needs.
(ii) A file of working S.E.N. resources for each teacher, including checklists
and assessments that can be used in the classroom.
(iii) In-service training for teachers and Educational Support Assistants,
including practical workshops on, for example, teaching the alphabet and using
the dictionary.
(iv) Resources - advice and/or compilation of a list of a school’s current
S.E.N. resources and future needs, including school produced resources.
