Thank you

This Christmas I have been very touched by the cards and presents I have received from current and past students. I really appreciate all of your kind words and hope you all had a very merry Christmas. I look forward to seeing you in the New Year. Just a reminder that term starts again on 3rd January.

New term

Congratulations to our students who have received excellent exam results this year and who are moving onto the next stage of their education in Further Education and at Sixth Form Colleges.
We wish all our students a smooth and safe return to school and college this week.

Lessons and assessments restart

We have now opened our doors again for lessons and assessments. We have made some changes to make sure our students and their families stay safe and well, so please contact us if you would like to hear about these. It has been great to see some of you again this week!

Covid-19

Sadly, due to the ongoing situation with Coronavirus and our need to keep students and their families safe, lessons at the Learning Loft will not be taking place over this half term.   However, we are still open to give advice and support via email or phone, so please keep in contact.

We look forward to welcoming our students back when the time is right.  Thank you for all your support.

Start of term

Just a reminder to everyone that our new term starts on Monday 16th September.

We hope everyone had a relaxing summer and we are looking forward to seeing all of our new and returning students soon.

Eyes and dyslexia

New research from scientists in France has found that people with dyslexia often have an unusual pattern of light detecting cells in their eyes which makes letters difficult to read.  Rather than having a dominant eye, research in a Royal Society Journal states that both eyes in a person with dyslexia battle for dominance, causing confusion with print. The scientists state that “For dyslexic students…their brain has to successively rely on the two slightly different versions of a given visual scene”.

Using coloured overlays and coloured paper can have a noticeable impact for some students on improving the stability and clarity of text and in reducing signs of visual stress, such as headaches and eye strain.  Please contact us for more information.

Start of term

The Learning Loft’s new term will start on Monday 11th September.  We look forward to welcoming back our students and to working with all of our new pupils who are starting with us this term.

End of term

Our end of term will be on Friday 14th July.  We will be taking some annual leave, but The Learning Loft will be open at various times for assessments and enquiries during the summer holidays.  Please leave a message or email and we will get back to you as soon as we can.  Term restarts officially on Monday 11th September.

We wish all of our students and families a wonderful summer!

Closure of Dyslexia Action

We were sorry to hear of the recent closure of Dyslexia Action which is now under administration.
We are full members of Patoss (Professional Association of Teachers of Students with Specific Learning Difficulties). We recommend them as a source of information, support, advice and professional services to parents, teachers and students.

Happy Easter

We wish all of our students a happy Easter.
The new term will start on Monday 24th April. We are looking forward to welcoming some new students who are starting with us next term.
